Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue was arrested on Tuesday (Apr 8) for allegedly assaulting a nurse at a hospital in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture. She is anticipated to remain in detention until Saturday (Apr 19).
Her legal representatives submitted an appeal concerning her detention, but the court subsequently denied it.
Reports from Japanese media indicate that a woman recently visited the detention facility, suspected to be a relative of Hirosue.
Separately, police officers stated that detainees must purchase personal items such as toothbrushes, towels, and soap at their own expense while incarcerated.
During family or friend visits, it is customary for visitors to bring cash, clothing, and notebooks for the detainees.
However, items with ropes are classified as unauthorized due to safety concerns, as they could potentially be misused in suicide attempts. Similarly, brassieres have been deemed restricted items and will be confiscated if discovered.
Furthermore, it is noted that bal pens are prohibited within the detention center; however, detainees may borrow one from the facility.
Sources have also indicated that detainees are only permitted to shower once a week, although the frequency is increased to twice a week during the summer months.
