China says it opposes all unilateral tariffs as new US levies kick in

China opposes all unilateral tariffs, the foreign ministry's spokesperson told a daily news briefing on Friday, adding that trade wars do not serve any parties.

The remarks came as the Trump administration imposed new tariffs of 10 percent and 12.5 percent on goods from 60 trading partners, including the European Union and China, over allegations of lax enforcement of forced labor bans, just as a temporary 10 percent global tariff expired.
