Nissin Foods' second-quarter operating profit down 1.6pc

Noodle maker Nissin Foods(1475) posted a decline of 1.6 percent year-on-year in operating profit in the second quarter.

The company's revenue grew 1.4 percent to 16.7 billion yen(HK$889 million), with core operating profit dropping 4.9 percent, according to an exchange filing.

Excluding the impact of currency translation, its revenue rose 9.2 percent to 17.9 billion yen, while core operating profit increased 2.4 percent.

The company said its sales of instant noodles in mainland China saw growth, while sales of bag-type noodles in Hong Kong remained stable despite a change in consumption behaviors in the city.

Its share decreased 0.44 percent to HK$7.5 on Tuesday.
