The Faculty of Education of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has assumed an important role in educational research and professional training in the region and internationally, and has been contributing significantly to education policy and development in Hong Kong. As a major teacher-education institution with strong expertise in policy analysis and curriculum development, the Faculty is currently ranked No. 5 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings by Subject 2023 and No. 8 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2022.

The Doctor of Education (EdD) is a professional doctoral degree programme intended for experienced professionals who are leaders, or aspire to be leaders, in education-related institutions and services. It aims to develop participants’ capacity for enquiry and evidence-led decision-making and their ability to translate research findings into usable knowledge.
The Master of Education (MEd) is an academic degree for education professionals who are looking for opportunities to extend their professional knowledge in education. It aims to provide students with a general understanding of education as a field of study and focused mastery of an area of specialisation, and to equip them with knowledge and skills to understand educational research.
The Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages [MA(TESOL)] equips students with a thorough grounding in current research, teaching theory, principles and practices in English language education. It is targeted primarily, but not exclusively, at teachers of English to speakers of other languages.
The Master of Science in Technology, Design and Leadership for Learning [MSc(TDLL)]* aims to educate individuals who are interested in career as learning technologists, e-learning specialists, instructional designers and information technology coordinators in schools, higher education and corporate contexts.
The Master of Science in Library and Information Management [MSc(LIM)] is designed to prepare candidates for professional work in the broad information sector, the fastest-growing area of the economy in Hong Kong and the world, including but not limited to the library.
