An electric vehicle fire at a parking lot in Xiapu County, Fujian province, destroyed eight cars after the owner remotely activated the air conditioning via mobile app.

The AVATR electric car suddenly caught fire on October 5 at a temporary parking area in Dongbi Village. The owner reported using the app to start the smart air conditioning system when the cabin temperature showed 54°C. Upon arriving at the vehicle as temperatures dropped to 40°C, they discovered smoke inside, with flames erupting just three minutes later.

Village officials confirmed the fire was extinguished within an hour without injuries, noting the burned vehicle was only one month old. The temporary parking space was originally a fishing gear storage area adapted for increasing tourist numbers.
AVATR's customer service has acknowledged the incident, stating the cause remains under investigation.
