Senior US and Chinese trade negotiators agreed Friday to "create favourable conditions" for the phase one trade deal they signed in January.

Vice Premier Liu He, who leads the Chinese side of the China-U.S. comprehensive economic dialogue, held a phone conversation with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in the morning today, Xinhua reported.

The two sides agreed that they should enhance macroeconomic and public health cooperation, create a favorable atmosphere and conditions for the implementation of the China-U.S. phase-one trade deal, and strive for positive outcomes.

They also agreed to maintain communication and coordination.

US officials said both parties agreed "good progress" is being made on creating the governmental infrastructure needed to make the
agreement a success.
"They also agreed that in spite of the current global health emergency, both countries fully expect to meet their obligations under the agreement in a
timely manner," said the Office of the US Trade Representative and Treasury in a statement.
