China's Ministry of Commerce has expressed opposition to Britain's listing of 11 Chinese enterprises for alleged involvement with Russia.
On July 15, the UK government announced sanctions against 11 Chinese entities, accusing them of supporting Russian energy entities and providing key items to Russia's military industry. The Ministry of Commerce responded to the UK government's decision.
A ministry spokesperson stated: "China firmly opposes the UK's decision to list 11 Chinese enterprises based on alleged connections to Russia. Regarding the Ukraine crisis, China has consistently and strictly controlled the export of dual-use items in accordance with laws and regulations. Normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian enterprises should not be interfered with or affected."
The spokesperson described the UK's actions as "unilateral sanctions without international legal basis or United Nations authorization."
"The UK, disregarding China's representations and the positive development momentum of China-UK economic and trade relations, insists on listing Chinese enterprises, which will have a negative impact on bilateral economic and trade ties," the spokesperson said.
China urges the UK to correct its erroneous practices immediately and revoke sanctions against relevant Chinese entities from the perspective of safeguarding the overall situation of China-UK economic and trade cooperation. China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
