This comes shortly after a 38-year-old man in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, who posed as a woman under the alias "Red Sister," was arrested after allegedly engaging in sexual encounters with as many as 1,691 men, some of whom were secretly recorded and had their videos sold online.
The scandal has gone viral across Chinese social media and has even drawn international attention.
Footage circulating online shows that many of the men who visited "Red Sister" were well-groomed and physically fit.
One client, a 25-year-old fitness influencer known as "Chiyang," publicly confirmed his involvement, pleading for the spread of the leaked videos to come to a stop.
Chiyang, whose real name has not been disclosed, admitted on social media that he was one of the men filmed without his consent.
Overwhelmed by the hounding harassment and private messages, he decided to speak out, stating that he had reported the case to the police and undergone STD testing.
He mentioned in his bio before deleting his account on Xiaohongshu that his life is in so much chaos that he is preparing to leave Nanjing for another city.
Netizens-turned-sleuths identified Chiyang by matching his clothing—a black T-shirt with a bull logo—and facial features from the leaked footage. His admission makes him the first confirmed client in the scandal.
The suspect, surnamed Jiao, has been detained by police. Authorities are investigating whether he knowingly spread sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), which could lead to charges of "endangering public safety"—a crime punishable by death under Chinese law.
