Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu stated in his policy address on Wednesday that the government will establish several working groups focused on developing tourist hotspots, the low-altitude economy, and the silver economy, as well as forming a committee to attract talent.
The city leader stated that a working group will be set up for tourist hotspot development, led by the Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration.
The working group aims to strengthen cross-departmental coordination and leverage community efforts, identifying and developing tourist hotspots of high popularity and with strong appeal in various districts.
Meanwhile, he highlighted that the government will set up a working group on developing low-altitude economy, led by the Deputy Financial Secretary, to kick-start projects with application prospects, formulate development strategies and form action plans on the low-altitude economy, as well as take forward regulatory reform and plans for related infrastructural facilities.
Lee also noted the government will set up a working group on promoting the silver economy, which will be led by the Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration.
It will formulate measures to expedite the development of the silver industry in line with the daily needs of the elderly.
Additionally, the government will set up the Committee on Education, Technology and Talents, chaired by the Chief Secretary for Administration with the Secretary for Education, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, and Secretary for Labour and Welfare, as members.
The committee will co-ordinate and promote the integrated development of education, technology and talents.
It will also expand connections, attract and cultivate talents, foster the development of technology, and promote Hong Kong as an international hub for high-caliber talent.
