Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (China Resources Group) have jointly launched the “Beyond Dreams” Programme. The initiative is designed to nurture innovation and technology (I&T) talent and assist local tech startups in commercializing their innovations and entering the Chinese Mainland market. It also aims to deepen the collaboration between the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems of Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland.
The “Beyond Dreams” Programme has demonstrated tangible impact through three core programmes: the China Booster, China Resources x HKSTP Ideation, and the Hong Kong Student Internship Programme - all of which have recorded tangible progress. Among them, the China Booster Programme has successfully facilitated industry matching for six startups, enabling them to connect with relevant industrial systems in both Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
Meanwhile, the “Beyond Dreams” Hong Kong Student Internship Programme has, over the past two years, attracted some 400 university students from around the world to undertake two- to three-month placements at over 200 companies within the Hong Kong Science Park’s I&T ecosystem. Around 10 per cent of the participants eventually choosing to pursue careers within Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem, demonstrating the programme’s effectiveness in attracting and nurturing talent. The China Resources x HKSTP Ideation Programme attracted a cumulative of 125 startups.
Speaking at the programme’s achievements showcase, Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, affirmed the effectiveness of the “Beyond Dreams” Programme: “The programme has now attracted over 400 young people from Hong Kong. Through internships, professional training, and mentorship, they have gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire innovation and entrepreneurship process, as well as the challenges they may encounter—a truly valuable experience.”
HKSTP Chairman Dr Sunny Chai said the ‘Beyond Dreams’ Programme synergising China Resources Group’s vast industrial strengths with HKSTP’s vibrant I&T ecosystem. “Talent lies at the heart of I&T. We will continue to collaborate, uphold an innovative spirit, pursue ongoing exploration, and work together to build Hong Kong into an international I&T hub, contributing to the nation’s high-quality development.”
In his speech, Mr Wang Cuijun, General Manager of China Resources Group, said, through the ‘Beyond Dreams’ programme, China Resources Group and HKSTP assist Hong Kong youth in innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem involving government, enterprises, parks, academia, and capital. “We focus on talent cultivation, industrial upgrading, and Greater Bay Area synergy to promote the transformation of scientific research outcomes, facilitate complementary advantages between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, and contribute the strength of a central state-owned enterprise to Hong Kong’s integration into the national development agenda and the realization of technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.”
Since its launch, the “Beyond Dreams” programme has delivered concrete outcomes across its three core programmes. Under the China Booster programme, high-potential startups are able to leverage China Resources’ extensive industrial network, distribution channels and on-the-ground support to accelerate business expansion and commercialisation.
HKSTP Head of Startup Ecosystem and Development Derek Chim, stated that through the programme, the team gained in-depth access to Chinese Mainland for research and networking, receiving comprehensive support from technology development and scenario validation to market expansion.
One participating startup, Vidi Labs, developed Seekr, a wearable device that uses augmented vision technology to enhance independence for visually impaired and elderly users. Turzo Bose, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vidi Labs, said the most valuable support from the China Booster programme was helping the company establish a reliable supply chain, crucial for hardware development. Through the programme, Vidi Labs connected with partners in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, facilitating collaborative product development.Beyond supply-chain support, the programme also supported the company’s expansion into new markets. Vidi Labs has been named an honoree of the Innovation Awards for its innovative Seekr device in the Accessibility & AgeTech category at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025.
Turzo Bose said the most significant support provided by the China Booster programme was assistance in securing a robust supply chain.
Another programme participant, Summer Fung, joined the “Beyond Dreams” Hong Kong Student Internship Programme as an intern and worked as a digital marketing specialist at a Science Park’s technology company, specialising in router research and development.
She said that the internship gave her opportunities to attend overseas exhibitions, including the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year and the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. She described these experiences as rare and invaluable, adding that she sees strong development prospects at the company.

HKSTP Chief Talent Officer Fanny Wong noted that the programme has already helped multiple startups secure pilot projects and resource support within the Greater Bay Area. At the same time, it is nurturing cross-border talent and strengthening the synergistic advantages between Hong Kong and the Bay Area in innovation and technology. This integration allows young people to engage with real industry environments, boosts their competitiveness, and provides sustained momentum for Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem.
