The Citi Foundation has granted US$500,000 (HK$3.9 million) to the Changing Young Lives Foundation for a two-year project to boost artificial intelligence skills among underprivileged youth in Hong Kong, preparing them for the future workforce.
Selected as one of 50 global community grantees for the foundation's 2025 "Global Innovation Challenge," the Hong Kong charity will use the funds for the "Job Hunter Challenge" program. This initiative is designed to enhance the job-seeking capabilities of disadvantaged young people in the AI era, helping them secure their first jobs.
Aveline San, chief executive and head of banking of Citi Hong Kong, emphasized that AI literacy is becoming an indispensable core competency in the workplace. She said Citi's commitment to partnering with the foundation to provide this crucial training.
The two-year program will comprehensively strengthen participants' skills in areas like job matching analysis, interviews, aptitude tests, interpersonal communication, and AI applications. It will culminate in an annual immersive job-seeking competition, allowing youths to experience an AI-led recruitment process firsthand, thereby boosting their confidence to enter the job market.
