To celebrate International Museum Day on May 18, Macao is rolling out the red carpet for culture with “Macao International Museum Day 2025.” Over 20 museums will come together for this exciting event, kicking off with a vibrant opening ceremony at Mount Fortress Corridor, featuring thrilling performances and engaging activities.
This year’s theme, “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities,” invites everyone to explore the dynamic role of museums. Attendees can enjoy activities, including the interactive “Museum Corridor” exhibition, guided tours to hidden gems, captivating dragon dance performances, hands-on workshops, and the fun-filled Educational Puzzle-solving Game “Escape the Museum Cosmos.”
Don’t miss the chance to collect unique stamps during the “Stamp Collection Activity” at participating museums. Plus, from May 17 to 18, Mobile Museums will pop up across Macao, offering free admission to various cultural treasures.
On May 23, visitors can also join the “Museum Development Forum in Greater Bay Area” at the University of Macau, where experts will share insights on museum innovation and collaboration!

cAI: Soul Scan Exhibition – where art meets innovation!
Art enthusiasts will be thrilled to explore the innovative cAI: Soul Scan exhibition by internationally renowned contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Running until June 1 this year, at Navy Yard No.1, this exhibition showcases the unique capabilities of cAI™, an AI model developed by Cai and his team.
cAI™: Soul Scan highlights the transformation of cAI™ as it learns from Macao’s rich history and culture. With approximately 20 distinctive works created specifically for this exhibition, visitors will encounter cAI™ in various roles: the “gunpowder painter,” the “fireworks master,” and the “diviner.” The exhibition features a self-introduction generated by cAI™, followed by the debut of the “gunpowder artist cAI™.”
One of the highlights is the opportunity for visitors to co-create digital fireworks with the “fireworks master cAI™” through an interactive installation. Additionally, the cAI™ Divination Room invites guests to engage with robotic arms and explore the fascinating interplay of art and technology.
To enhance your visit, the cAI™ Public Art Tour runs every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday, with sessions at 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Free ferry and bus tickets for international travelers in HK!
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is partnering with Hong Kong-Macao bus and ferry operators to offer free ferry and direct bus tickets from Hong Kong to Macao for international visitors arriving in Hong Kong, starting today. This initiative aims to attract more international tourists and has already proven successful, drawing 310,000 visitors between February and December 2024.
The program will run until December 31, 2025, allowing eligible visitors to obtain free one-way bus or ferry tickets. Bookings can be made on the service operators’ websites, subject to terms and availability.
