The family of Kobe Bryant has agreed to a US$28.5 million (HK$223 million) settlement with Los Angeles County to resolve remaining claims in a lawsuit over deputies and firefighters sharing grisly photos of the NBA star, his 13-year-old daughter and others killed in a January 2020 helicopter crash.
The figure includes a newly agreed upon payment from the county of US$13.5 million along with the US$15 million a federal jury awarded to Bryant's widow, Vanessa, in August.
The agreement resolves any future claims by Bryant's family and other costs, pending approval from a judge.
"Today marks the successful culmination of Mrs Bryant's courageous battle to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct," Bryant's attorney Luis Li said.
Bryant, the former LA Lakers star, five-time NBA champion, was traveling with Gianna and seven others when the helicopter they were aboard crashed into hills near LA.
Respondents to the crash scene shot photos of the bodies and shared with employees, including spouses and others.
