China's top entrepreneurs have readied proposals to promote artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, energy storage and low-altitude economy after President Xi Jinping signaled support to the private sector.

Lei Jun, founder, chairman and chief executive of Xiaomi, suggested that Beijing and local governments step up support for the research and development of AI-powered consumer electronics like smartphones, laptops and tablets and establish a world-class leading intelligent device ecosystem by 2030.

He also urged to push forward the national testing and verification of autonomous driving cars and set the expected time to permit the production of vehicles as soon as possible.

Lei will propose standards related to "vehicle-to-everything"- a wireless communication tool that allows vehicles to share speed, location, road conditions and other basic information - to enable various intelligent devices to connect.

EV battery giant CATL chairman Zeng Yuqun will advise Beijing to improve the market pricing mechanism of stored electricity to help reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Zeng said China's energy storage industry faces problems that include low utilization rates and long payback periods.

XPeng chairman He Xiaopeng said the EV maker expects Hong Kong to roll out more stimuli to develop a low-altitude economy, adding that its flying car will showcase in a related conference in the city in June.
