Woman, 3 men questioned by police over HK$160m 'cashed cheque' verification

A woman involved in cryptocurrency trading and three men were taken to a police station for questioning on Thursday after a bank manager became suspicious when they asked to verify a cheque worth HK$160 million that showed as already cashed.

The four went to Nanyang Commercial Bank on Nathan Road in Mong Kok around 5.01pm. They presented the cheque and asked staff to confirm its authenticity and validity.

The manager checked the system and found the huge cheque was marked as already cashed. Due to the amount and abnormal status, the manager reported it to police.

Officers arrived and took the woman and three men to the station to assist investigation. No arrests have been made. The case is classified as "police assistance sought" and handled by the Mong Kok district crime squad.
