Competing under challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds marked by Strong Wind Signal No.3, she stood out as the only Indonesian participant in the event.
Yuliana's remarkable journey to the finish line is not just a testament to her physical endurance, but also a powerful symbol of her transformation from a cancer survivor to a passionate trail runner.
In 2023, her life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer—a revelation that left her grappling with sadness and a sense of helplessness.
"I felt so poor," Yuliana recalled. "I had always believed I was strong because I exercised regularly."

Following surgery in March, Yuliana faced a challenging regimen of chemotherapy and radiation therapy and found herself grappling with feelings of depression. "Even with therapy, I feel sick."
A concerned friend introduced her to hiking and trail running as a therapeutic outlet, and it was during this difficult time that Yuliana discovered a newfound sense of freedom on the trails.
"Being on mountains made me forget my problems," she said.
She shared a poignant moment after the passing of her father, she climbed to The Peak and screamed into the wind, using the mountains as a way to channel her grief.
Her first 15 km trail race last November, where she finished impressively in 11th place, ignited her passion for running. Since then, Yuliana has tackled at least 30 mountains in Hong Kong, demonstrating incredible progress in less than a year.
"Under tough conditions, I can run faster and enjoy it even more," she reflected on her recent race, highlighting her progress and dedication.
Expressing gratitude for the support from her friends and employer, Edward Wong, who has been by her side for 20 years, Yuliana shared how running has transformed her life.
"Running has changed me. I have become a happy and strong woman," she said.
Wong proudly noted Yuliana's commitment to managing her diet and exercise, supporting her by sponsoring and encouraging a regular running habit.
"Willpower is very important, and she deserves all the credit for her journey," he said, adding that Yuliana also inspired him to be stronger in facing his own challenges.
Looking ahead, Yuliana is excited to participate in the upcoming Hike and Run 15km trail race in Happy Valley, eager to continue her journey and inspire others along the way.
