Coach Chan Yuen-ting suspended and fined over controversial remarks in Chinese women's football

Hong Kong's Chan Yuen-ting, the head coach of Jiangsu Wuxi Women's Football Club in the Chinese Women's Super League, has received a one-match suspension and a fine of 5,000 yuan due to her comments deemed irresponsible by the Chinese Football Association (CFA). 

The CFA announced that the penalty was imposed in response to statements made by Chan during a post-match press conference.

A Weibo post alleged that Chan remarked that unless systemic issues are addressed, improvements in performance are unlikely regardless of the level of financial investment.

The remark ignited discussions on social media, where some individuals criticized the CFA for sanctioning a person who appeared to be voicing a truthful perspective. 

However, a subsequent clarification from a Chinese football journalist on Weibo indicated that Chan did not make the related statement; instead, she articulated her dissatisfaction with the scheduling of matches. 

It was noted that the players from the Club were being summoned for national team duties without any adjustments to the match schedule.
