Orient Overseas profit down 41pc to US$1.51b

Orient Overseas (International) (0316) posted a nearly 41.3 percent year-on-year decline in full-year net profit to US$1.51 billion (HK$11.8 billion) amid trade tension and economic shifts in 2025. 

It reduced the final dividend by 68.2 percent to 42 US cents, bringing the total dividend this year to US$1.14.

Revenue for the shipping giant dropped 9.2 percent to US$9.72 billion.

Looking ahead, under the global economic slower‑growth outlook, structural overcapacity and the resumption of Red Sea transits are expected to exert considerable pressure on freight rates, the company said.

Regional economic imbalances, fluctuations in tariff policies, and ongoing geopolitical tensions will continue to disrupt supply chain stability and reshape global trade patterns, OOIL added.
