Male burglar attempts to sexually assault female home owner

Police arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly broke into the flat of his neighbor and attempted to sexually assault her.

The incident happened at Shek Hei House, Shek Lei (II) Estate in Kwai Chung yesterday. 

The man, surnamed Wong, broke into a flat and attempted to sexually assault the 28-year-old female owner, who was sleeping at that time. He also threw the woman’s bags and other belongings out of the window. 

The woman called a male friend, 29, for help while talking to the burglar, and her friend arrived about 30 minutes later. He fought with the burglar as he arrived at the flat. Yet the burglar attacked him in the head with a glass bottle and escaped. The two then reported the event to the police at around 2.30am. 

The woman’s hands were hurt, while the man’s head was hurt. The two were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital. 

After investigation police arrested Wong in the afternoon, who lives in the same building for committing burglary and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He is currently detained by the police. 

Officer also found the woman’s bags and other belongings in the man’s apartment. It was understood that the man and the woman didn’t know each other. 

The police are still investigating how he broke into the flat, and other details, including his motives, his relationship with the woman and his mental state.
