Betty Fung named arts hub interim head

Civil servant Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee, has been named acting chief executive of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority from December 7, for about six months, the government announced.

The arts hub CEO Duncan Pescod, is leaving on November 28, before his contract ends.
Fung, who heads the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office will serve until a new CEO is recruited.

The Standard had earlier this month reported Fung is a candidate for the arts hub role.

Fung joined the administrative service in July 1986 and became an administrative officer staff grade A1 in April 2019.

Among her many leadership roles, she has served as Director of Information Services from July 2007 to August 2009, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services from August 2009 to July 2014, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs from July 2014 to April 2018,

She has been head of the Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office since April 2018.
