Cenovus Energy denies Asian asset sale suggestions

CK Hutchison's (0001) Cenovus Energy has clarified it is keen to cooperate with Cnooc (0883).
Director of Cenovus Energy, Frank Sixt, said reports in some media have misinterpreted comments by Alex Poubaix, chief executive of Cenovus Energy at an energy symposium in Canada as suggesting Cenovus is selling its Asian assets.
Sixt said Cenovus has not made such a decision. Cenovus is satisfied with the performance of the Asian assets and the relationship with its partner Cnooc.
The senior leadership of Cenovus is looking forward to meeting senior counterparts at Cnooc in person to develop their partnership once international travel between Canada and China can be resumed. Cnooc shares fell.
