The office said the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission's report made groundless accusations against Hong Kong's national security laws, police enforcement actions, business environment and development achievements.
A spokesperson stated that Hong Kong is a rule-of-law society where everyone must obey the law, and no one can engage in illegal activities under the banner of freedom while attempting to escape legal sanctions.
The spokesperson emphasized the report's accusations disregard facts and lack basis, adding that the commission has long made irresponsible statements about China and Hong Kong that lack credibility.
The office urged US politicians to abandon what it called the futile effort of producing annual reports and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal matters.
