Historic tree of over 50 years old in Sai Kung uprooted by Ragasa

Super Typhoon Ragasa struck the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, causing widespread damage across various areas. Sai Kung has suffered extensive damage, with several cases of fallen trees reported.

At Sha Tsui Playground, a large tree over 50 years old, standing approximately 30 meters tall, was uprooted by the strong winds. The tree collapsed near Man Yee Wan Recreation Centre, blocking parts of Wannian Road. Firefighters were dispatched to cut it into pieces for removal, and local residents expressed regret over the loss of a historic tree.

Moreover, a fallen tree on Ta Ho Tun Road crushed two cars, prompting firefighters to dismantle it with a chainsaw. No injuries were reported.
