Cambodian officials have commended the modern and innovative medical materials and equipment in Hong Kong, expressing their intention to take these insights back for further study.

The statement came during a visit led by Youk Sambath, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health and a collaboration partner of GX Foundation, chaired by former chief executive Leung Chun-ying.

Sambath and her delegation are here to learn about the city's health-care system.

In visits to Hong Kong Eye Hospital and the Centre for Health Protection, Sambath said: "Compared to Cambodia, both the Eye Hospital and the CHP demonstrate sophisticated high-tech innovations."

She emphasized the importance of learning about disease control.

"Our experts have gained valuable insights into the technologies adopted by the Eye Hospital and the entire system is very advanced," she said.

Sambath praised the hospital and its outpatient department as a "very large" and "exceptionally good" facility.

She was particularly impressed by the efficiency of the admission process, saying patients can be admitted and discharged within a single day.

"I find the materials and equipment used in hospitals here to be very modern. We plan to bring some of this equipment back to study how it can be integrated into our system," she added.

Sambath described the visit as a "valuable experience," praising the insightful presentations from health-care officers at the CHP and productive exchanges about systems in both places.

She also proposed further collaborations to strengthen ties between eye care hospitals here and institutions in Cambodia.

The delegation also toured Chinese University's medical center. They return home today.
