Hong Kong is gearing up to celebrate the 15th National Games (NG), 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD), and 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG), a landmark multi-sport event co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao for the first time, running from November 9 to 21 and December 8 to 15.
Organized by the General Administration of Sport of China every four years, the NG, the nation’s premier sporting event, will feature 34 competition events and 23 mass participation activities, while the NGD and NSOG will include 35 competition events and 11 public engagement activities, showcasing athletic talent and inclusivity.
To bring the excitement to the public, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will establish focal sites at sports centers across all 18 districts of Hong Kong, operating daily from 8am to 11pm during the event periods.
Under the theme “Coalescing together for the National Games,” these hubs will broadcast live competitions, inviting residents to support athletes and immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
The LCSD has created a dedicated website with detailed schedules and will update any changes to the focal sites’ operating hours promptly online.
To boost public engagement and promote sports, the LCSD is partnering with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and InspiringHK Sports Foundation to host the “JC Fit City - Active 8 National Games is Live Experience” during the NG period.
Visitors to the focal sites can participate in free sports experience sessions, encouraging active involvement in this national celebration.
Details of these activities will be available on the dedicated website, offering residents a chance to connect with the spirit of the games.
