The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 36 points, or 0.15 percent lower, at 25,851.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index edged up 0.19 points, or 0.01 percent, to 9,259, while the Hang Seng Tech Index slipped 0.07 percent to 5,999.
Market turnover stood at HK$2.6 billion.
Zijin Mining (2899) climbed 5.39 percent to HK$34.8, making it the top blue-chip gainer.
Among tech index constituents, Nio (9866) rose 5.62 percent to HK$52.05, the biggest advancer.
