Shanghai Composite Index hits 10-year high by noon

The A-share market hit its highest in 10 years, and the yuan edged up by noon. 

The Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 1.18 percent to 3,740 points, a new high since August 2015. 

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index also gained 2.25 percent to 11,896 points at the midday close.

The onshore yuan increased by 0.03 percent to 7.1808 per US dollar. 

Hong Kong stocks also performed well, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index up by 156 points, or 0.6 percent to 25,426 points by noon. The half-day market turnover was nearly HK$172 billion. 

The Hang Seng Tech Index grew 2 percent to 5,652 points at noon.
