The police are investigating a suspected poisoning case and disappearance of dogs in Lok Ma Chau on Friday morning.
The disturbing incident occurred early this morning at around 8am in Lok Ma Chau, where a village house at Kwu Tung Road, the homeowner, surnamed Chan, found that of his ten beloved dogs, three had mysteriously died and two were missing.
Fearing foul play, he promptly contacted the police, who are now investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding the event. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals officers have also been notified.
Chan, who has lived at the address for approximately 20 years and owns more than ten dogs, reported that he discovered three of his dogs dead around 6am, with an additional two unaccounted for.
He noted that there were no prior signs of distress, such as barking or strange noises. Tragically, this is not the first such incident Chan has experienced.
In July of the previous year, he lost 22 dogs to suspected poisoning. Additionally, there was a past incident where a Labrador Retriever was found with its throat slashed near a pond; the injured dog managed to return home but unfortunately succumbed to its injuries. Chan had reported both incidents to the police.
The police are treating the case with the utmost seriousness, given the history of similar incidents in the area, and are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death and the whereabouts of the missing dogs.
