The Urban Renewal Authority released the plans of two pilot projects in Kowloon City, involving the redevelopment of buildings under the Civil Servants’ Co-operative Building Society Scheme, and the total number of flats after the redevelopment of both projects will increase from about 600 to 3,000 units.

Among them, Shing Tak Street/Ma Tau Chung Road Development Project has a project area of around 5,000 square meters and is estimated to affect 150 households. About 640 units are expected to be built by 2029.

The Kau Pui Lung Road/Chi Kiang Street Development has an area of 16,000 sqm and may affect 460 households. The total number of flats is expected to increase to 2,500 after completion in 2030-2031. Around 45,000 sqm will be allocated for public housing after acquired by the URA upon completion, the department said.

About one-third of the project area at the southern part of the Kau Pui Lung Road/Chi Kiang Street Development Scheme will be handed over free to the government for the provision of public housing after land resumption, said the URA.
