US chip giant Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang Jen-Hsun met Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and reiterated the company's commitment to deepening its presence in the Chinese market despite growing U.S. export restrictions.
According to state news agency Xinhua, He highlighted China's vast investment potential and accelerating industrial transformation, describing the country as "fertile ground for foreign enterprises."
Huang, in a rare suit-and-tie appearance, responded by expressing confidence in China's economic prospects and Nvidia’s willingness to play a constructive role in U.S.-China trade relations.
Huang also held closed-door discussions with key Chinese clients, including Deepseek founder Liang Wenfeng, The Financial Times reported. Sources familiar with the talks said they focused on developing next-generation chips that could meet both Chinese market demands and evolving U.S. export control requirements.
At an ealier meeting, Huang said China is a very important market for Nvidia and the company hopes to continue cooperation with the country.
The message was delivered at a meeting with Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, a state-owned trade body, according to China Central Television.
Huang arrived in Beijing on Thursday at the invitation of CCPIT, two days after the US Commerce Department announced new export licensing requirements on Tuesday for Nvidia’s H20 and AMD’s MI308 AI chips, as well as their equivalents, which President Donald Trump claimed as part of efforts to safeguard national and economic security.
