Cheung Kong Group has clarified that it has not offered a hotel at Fortress Hill for protesters to change clothes and to offer them free meals.
A spokeswoman of Harbour Grand in North Point, under CK Asset (1113), expressed anger and disappointment at the rumors and stated the hotel in a video with scenes of protestors on mainland social platform Sina Weibo has no relation to Harbour Grand.
CK Asset meanwhile denied claims on social media that the company had invested in the Wutongshan Tunnel in Shenzhen and sold it at a loss in 2011.
Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions member Luk Chung-hung previously forwarded the rumor through his Facebook account before deleting it.
A spokeswoman said Li Ka-shing and subsidiaries under Cheung Kong Holdings had never invested in the project.
