Hong Kong stocks’ slump narrowed by noon on the first trading day after the Chinese New Year holiday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index tanked by more than 340 points in the morning, before closing 161 points, or 0.6 percent, to 26,544 at noon.
The half-day market turnover was HK$91.8 billion.
The Hang Seng Tech Index declined by 2.3 percent to 5,245 points at noon.
The Chinese stock market remained closed until Tuesday.
