Hong Kong stocks were soft by midday on Wednesday, dropping for the fifth day in a row.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dropped by 39 points to 26,447 points by noon.
The half-day market turnover was HK$127.7 billion.
The Hang Seng Tech Index inched up by 0.15 percent to 5,691 points at noon.
In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index increased by 0.2 percent to 4,120 points and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index grew by 0.8 percent to 14,263 points at the midday close.
