About 30 activists rallied outside the Russian Consulate in Wan Chai today to show solidarity with the protest group Pussy Riot whose members were jailed after they ran onto the field during this month's World Cup final in Moscow, RTHK reports.

The demonstrators urged the Russian government to free the band members and all other political prisoners.

Joshua Wong Chi-fung from Demosisto said it is also important for Hong Kong people to show support to the Russian band.

He said the dynamics in Russia may be different to those of Hong Kong, but both places are ruled by people who do not respect human rights – President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping.

"Their attitude towards universal values significantly affect the future and further development of Asia-pacific," said Wong.-Photo: RTHK
