Mary Shapiro among three named to advice HKEx

Stuart Gulliver, former group chief executive and chairman of HSBC Holdings plc, Mary Schapiro, vice chair for global public policy and special advisor to the founder and chairman of Bloomberg LP, and former chair of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and Joseph Tsai, executive vice chairman of Alibaba Group are among business leaders named to advise the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, the bourse operator said today.

The council includes experts in economics, business and finance and will be chaired by Laura Cha, the HKEx chairperson.

Schapiro was 29th SEC chair and was the first woman to serve in the position.

Cha said each one is a true global leader. Their knowledge, experience and insight span geographies, markets and sectors.

"The council will provide invaluable support to the board in the development of HKEx’s strategy and delivery of our vision to be Asia’s leader in global markets,” Cha said in a statement.
