John Slosar to step down as Swire Pacific chair

Swire Pacific (0019) announced today that its chair John Slosar will retire from his positions in the conglomerate and its subsidiaries, Swire Properties (1927) and HAECO (0044), with effect from July 1, but will remain as the chairman and a director of Hong Kong's flagship carrier Cathay Pacific Airways (0293).

The 61-year-old will be succeeded by Merlin Bingham Swire, 44, who has worked for Swire for two decades, the group said.

Slosar has been the chairman of Swire Pacific, Swire Properties and HAECO since March 2014. He served as the CEO of Cathay Pacific between March 2011 and March 2014.

In March last year, Cathay Pacific Airways reported a net loss of HK$575 million in 2016.

Shares in Swire Pacific rose 0.54 percent to HK$74.70 at market close today.
