Ng Tsz-lok, who was cleared of terrorism charges in the 2020 bomb plot case last month,  has been remanded in custody pending trial for allegedly inciting unrest.

The arrest came as part of an operation by the police's National Security Department that netted five individuals accused of running a weapon production network during the social unrest.

Among them, a 34-year-old male suspect is believed to have repeatedly posted inflammatory content online, encouraging hatred against the SAR government and promoting illegal acts.

The arrestees are facing charges including aiding and abetting riot, conspiracy to incite riot, inciting riot, perverting the course of justice, and committing an act with seditious intent.

Ng and another male suspect were remanded in custody, with their case adjourned to December 15.

The police indicated that their operation is ongoing, and further arrests may follow.

The Secretary for Security, Chris Tang Ping-keung, stressed that there was no retroactive period for serious crime, particularly those that endanger national security or incite violence.

"Regardless of how long you hide, we will arrest you if there is sufficient evidence," he stated.

In follow-up operations,  officers seized two samurai swords, three compound bows, and twelve arrows from a suspect's residence , leading to the arrest of a sixth individual linked to the case.

As the case came into light, some political analysts have suggested the investigation will likely expand to examine financial flows and connections between the arrested individuals.

It is anticipated that the investigation will be extended to include the financial flows and connections of the arrested individuals.

Ng was accused of involvement in three bomb plots, including at Caritas Medical Centre and Lo Wu Station during the Covid pandemic.

In another planned attack in Tseung Kwan O, Ng allegedly initiated a Bitcoin crowdfunding campaign to purchase bomb-making materials and designed the explosive chemical ratios.

One day before his arrest, Ng  was spotted attending the sentencing of other suspects involved in the planned bomb attack, who received prison terms of 18 years and 16 years and eight months, respectively.
