A container yard near Tsing Sheung Road under Stonecutters Bridge in Tsing Yi reignited early Tuesday morning, just two days after a previous fire at the same location. Flames lit up the area with thick smoke rising into the sky.
Authorities received multiple reports at 4:12am about the fire at the recycling facility. Firefighters responded promptly, deploying one jet and a breathing apparatus team to combat the blaze. Preliminary information indicates no injuries or evacuations were necessary, with the fire covering an area approximately 50 by 50 meters involving recycled waste materials.
At the scene, intense flames engulfed the container yard while dark smoke billowed upward. Firefighters directed water streams onto the fire, with fireboats also dispatched to assist operations.
The Fire Services Department confirmed receiving the report of the recycling yard fire at the intersection of Tsing Sheung Road and Hong Wan Road at 4:12am, with personnel conducting firefighting operations. Residents affected by smoke and odors were advised to remain indoors with windows closed.
The same container yard had experienced a fire on Sunday around 7pm when metal scrap piles ignited, requiring similar firefighting efforts that successfully extinguished the blaze without injuries. The cause of the reignited fire remains under investigation.
