A large-scale fire erupted at a recycling facility in Ta Kwu Ling's Ping Che area on Thursday afternoon, sending towering plumes of black smoke visible across the district.

The blaze was reported at approximately 4.17pm at the Hung Lung Hang Warehouse recycling site.



The Fire Services Department swiftly deployed two water jets and two breathing apparatus teams to combat the intense flames.
Six staff members from adjacent warehouses were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Eyewitness footage circulating online captured dramatic scenes of the inferno, with periodic explosions audible as flames engulfed the facility. The smoke column rose over 100 meters into the air, creating a visible landmark across the region.
Authorities successfully extinguished the fire by 6.10pm, confirming no injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by fire officials.
The Fire Services Department advised nearby residents to close windows and remain calm if affected by smoke or odors carried by wind currents.
