Police officer found dead in office at Wan Chai HQ

A 37-year-old police officer was found unconscious at the Wan Chai Police Headquarters at around 9am this morning after apparently vomiting in his office, he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said the officer was found lying unconsciously on a folding bed in his officer when another officer went back to work this morning.

The force said the officer, surnamed Hui, worked in the Hong Kong Island regional crime unit. He was off duty at the time.

Police’s initial probe suggested the officer died at around 4am today, with no food or alcoholic drinks found in the office.

The force expressed condolences to his family and said they will do everything they can to help with his funeral arrangements.
