Liberal Party leader Felix Chung has accused the government of being “irresponsible” for leaving the city with a shortage of surgical masks amid the outbreak of a new coronavirus on the mainland.
Speaking on an RTHK program, Chung said the administration should learn from its counterparts in Singapore and Macau, and become the centralized body responsible for distributing masks.
“The government has to improve the transparency and information they have. The government should centralize all the resources. It’s not just leaving the business sector to do it. This is not responsible at this serious critical moment,” the pro-establishment lawmaker said.
