With a special emphasis on bilingual education, Mulberry House International Kindergarten (MHKG) nurtures global citizens with a lifelong love of learning.

As an integral component of the Mulberry House Education Group established in 2015, Mulberry House International Kindergarten offers a leading inquiry-based bilingual education to children aged below 6 years old across its two beautiful campuses in Tai Po and Southside, striving to unlock each child’s unique potential.

Inquiry-based bilingual education to nurture confident learners

The mission of the school is to nurture global citizens who are culturally and linguistically fluent in English and Chinese with a lifelong love of learning, notes Susan Ward, Head of MHKG Tai Po. “We do this through an inquiry-based method blended with the Reggio Emilia approach, underpinned by the EYFS curriculum with an authentic bilingual immersive experience.”

Supplementing Ward’s point, Betty Fang, Head of MHKG Southside, explains that the comprehensive curriculum has been enriched with enhanced numeracy and phonics to meet primary school requirements. “Additionally, we have developed a Chinese curriculum for learning to read and write alongside the same developmental guidelines,” she says, adding that the school also learns from the Reggio philosophy to emphasise a child-centred approach to learning.

In a Mulberry classroom, there are two native speaking early-childhood educators to provide personalized support to student’s bilingual immersion learning with multi-sensory learning materials, allowing young learners to effortlessly absorb and experience both English and Chinese as a ‘living language’ with a love of learning. “Our students leave Mulberry House with strong communication skills, confidence, and an understanding of the world around them,” Fang says proudly.

Well-equipped campus to foster children’s development

To create a nurturing environment for children to thrive, both Mulberry House’s campuses boast spacious indoor and outdoor spaces, beautifully designed playground areas, and sensory-rich classrooms.

The Tai Po campus offers outdoor spaces including a garden and sandpit, a rare find in Hong Kong, while the newly-opened Southside campus provides full glass windows engulfing every classroom in natural light.

In connection with the well-equipped campuses, the school has introduced the Forest School Programme to offer students unique and regular opportunities to develop confidence through hands-on learning. Ward explains, “In interacting with the environment around them, they gain an appreciation for nature, whilst also building practical skills and resilience needed in the outside world.”

Aside from the programme, children can also benefit from a wide range of extracurricular activities, ranging from drama, phonics, arts, cooking, sports, and public speaking to STEM. “It allows students to build long-lasting friendships and connections, as well as to gain transferable skills, such as communication, confidence, teamwork, organizational skills, and time management,” Fang stresses.

Applications for the academic year 2021-22 are now open

Thanks to its premier bilingual education, the school scores well in graduate performance, with the majority moving onto well-known international primary schools and private independent schools such as ISF Academy, Chinese International School, Malvern College, American School HK and ESF.

The school is now accepting rolling enrolment and applications for the academic year 2021-22. Successful applicants will be invited to a play-based observation session to meet with the principal to discuss the best learning path for the child.

Prospective families are welcome to join the information and Open House to find out more information. The sessions are listed on its website and Facebook page. A private school tour is also available.
