Jamie Chadwick saw her dream of competing in Formula 1 closer to reality after the British driver retained her W Series title.

Chadwick, 23, won back-to-back races at Austin's Circuit of the Americas in the all-female single-seater series.

The W Series is aimed at helping women climb the ladder to Formula 1, which has not had a female race driver since Italian Lella Lombardi in 1976.

"Still a lot to achieve before I can get there, but it definitely feels a step closer," Chadwick said.

The Williams F1 development driver took 15 points toward a F1 super-license after Sunday's wins.

Drivers need 40 points to race in F1, and Chadwick with 25 can now take part in practice.

Chadwick took her first W title in 2019. The series was cancelled last year with the pandemic.
