Usyk jumping in at the deep end, says JoshuaSports | AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE 23 Sep 2021
Anthony Joshua praised Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk for being bold in challenging him for his world titles after just two bouts at heavyweight.
Joshua, 31, will face WBO mandatory challenger Usyk, 34, in London on Sunday (HK time), with his WBA and IBF titles also on the line.
To highlight Usyk's lack of experience, Joshua said that boxing legend Evander Holyfield, a former lightheavyweight and cruiserweight, had more fights at heavyweight before challenging for the title.
"Usyk's fought two heavyweights. He's jumping in at the deep end early on. But good luck to him - he must believe in himself," said Joshua, who needs to beat Usyk to keep alive the possibility of an all-British clash with fellow champion Tyson Fury.
