All Blacks and Wallabies in series travel bind

New Zealand Rugby confirmed the All Blacks will host the Bledisloe Cup opener against Australia on August 7, but the rest of the trans-Tasman series remains up in the air due.

The New Zealand government last week suspended quarantine-free travel with Australia in response to Covid-19 outbreaks there putting the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship schedule in doubt.

The New Zealanders are now seeking an exemption for the Wallabies to travel to New Zealand and hope the Australians could stay for a second Test in lieu of the teams playing in Perth on August 21.

New Zealand were to host the third and final Bledisloe Cup Test, which doubles as their second match of the Rugby Championship, in Wellington on August 28.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said there will be no travel exemptions after a seven-day window expires this week.
