Medvedev stuns Djokovic as Zverev gets going

Sports | AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE 20 Nov 2020

Daniil Medvedev shocked Novak Djokovic in straight sets to book a place in the last four at the ATP Finals as former champion Alexander Zverev got his campaign up and running.

The Russian fourth seed went toe to toe with the world number one, coming out on top 6-3, 6-3 in an energy-sapping contest at the empty O2 Arena on Wednesday.

Earlier, German fifth seed Zverev beat Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, bouncing back from defeat in his opening Group Tokyo 1970 match at the hands of Medvedev.

Top seed Djokovic is looking to match the record of six-time winner Roger Federer, absent from the season-end tournament due to injury.

Medvedev is in the semis but Djokovic still has a chance to progress in a shootout with Zverev Friday.
