Record prize money on offer at Clearwater Bay Open

Sports | 12 Sep 2018

Next month's season-ending Clearwater Bay Open will offer prize money of 2 million yuan (HK$2.285 million), the biggest purse in the history of the PGA Tour Series-China.

This raises the profile of the tournament and makes it a huge factor in determining the final places in the series' Order of Merit, which offers spots on next year's Tour.

The tournament, now on its third year, will be played at the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club from October 11-14, following the Macau Championship and Zhuhai Championship.

Kunming Championship winner Motin Yeung and Jason Hak Shun-yat will lead the homegrown challenge. Australian James Marchesani is the defending champion.

"It has been an amazing season for me," said Yeung, 24. "Winning the Kunming Championship changed my life ... and gave me a chance to move to the next level."
