Opera houses turn on tenorWorld | AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE 15 Aug 2019
Placido Domingo faced a growing storm as the Los Angeles Opera looked to a probe into allegations of sexual harassment against him. And two other major venues canceled upcoming performances by the opera singer.
Domingo, 78, denied wrongdoing as women accused him of using his position as one of opera's most celebrated tenors to pressure them into sexual relationships.
Eight singers and a dancer claimed to have been sexually harassed in incidents dating from the 1980s.
The LA Opera, where Domingo has been director general since 2003, plans to investigate the claims.
Spanish-born Domingo was a major star of the 20th century as one of the Three Tenors with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras.
