Director of broadcasting Patrick Li Pak-chuen is winning praise from lawmakers for giving RTHK a new focus.
The senior administrative officer, who became the head of the public broadcaster, received overwhelming compliments from lawmakers.
At a meeting of the Legislative Council Panel on Information Technology and Broadcasting, New People's Party Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee praised him for having "swept away bad wind" in RTHK.
Ip said: "Everybody praises him. I think departments should look for officers like him."
Liberal Party Peter Shiu Ka-fai said before Li's leadership, RTHK's programs were shocking. He was believed to be referring to shows axed by Li, including those mocking police.
"Now RTHK programs are much more comfortable to watch," he said.
Elizabeth Quat, of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, said she had to give a round of applause to RTHK for its good performance recently.
It seems that Li's career in the civil service is brighter than ever.
