Table tennis players Doo Hoi-kem, Minnie Soo Wai-yam and Lee Ho-ching sent love to their parents through Cantopop songs on a radio program yesterday.
The Olympic bronze medalists said they found it especially memorable when they realized they had won and hugged together, like a dream come true, despite encountering many obstacles.
They also sent love to their parents through lyrics in some classic Cantopop music from the late 1980s.
Doo chose a song sung by Leslie Cheung and Elisa Chan, while Lee picked a song by rock band Beyond to show gratitude for their parents' never-ending support. Soo, youngest of the three, said she seldom listened to music, yet she liked songs from pop boy band Mirror. She used a solo song from band member Keung To to say thank you.
The women's table tennis team won a historic first bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics after beating Germany 3-1.
